**PhD students: last chance to apply for Lund PCLS courses this autumn tomorrow**

Have a look at the great short hands on courses given in Lund (but also one at SLU Alnarp!) here where you can also apply!

**PlantLink in the spotlight at SEB Gothenburg and SPPS Naantali**

Summer means conferences! And this summer PlantLink will be represented and presented at both SEB Gothenburg 2-6 July and Plant Biology Scandinavia (SPPS congress) in Naantali, Finland. We hope to see you there!

**MSc students, try your ideas at the next ELLS student conference in Copenhagen, 17 - 18 November 2017**

Euroleague for Life Sciences invites students to present their BSc/MSc theses or other projects at the international Student Conference of the Euroleague for Life Sciences (ELLS): "Global Challenges – the Impact of Life Sciences" in Copenhagen, 17 - 18 November 2017. During the conference students from the member universities and from international partners of the Euroleague for Life Sciences will present their own research through oral and poster presentations. Deadline for abstract submission is 15 June. More information and registration here.

**Mark your calendar for the PlantLink Day 4 October!**

Please mark your calendars for the next PlantLink Day which will start with lunch Wednesday the 4 October at SLU Alnarp. The themes will be around Oat genomics and plant research history in the Öresund region (SLU celebrates 40 this year and LU 350!). As usual it is a great opportunity to meet other plant scientists in the region.

**Welcome to our new PlantLink-associated bioinformatician(-s)!**

We welcome our a new PlantLink-associated bionformatician(-s)! From October Ganapathi Varma Saripella will be in place. He will be presented in more detail later and most recently comes from INSERM-UPMC in Paris. But already from 1st of June Alexander Koc, who has just defended his MSc thesis in the bioinformatics program at Lund University, will act as a fill-in until October. For more information contact Erik Alexandersson.

**PlantLink supports NordForsk University Hubs applications**

This new initiative from NordForsk will provide funding for activities that facilitate cooperation within the applicants' priority areas, strengthening the excellence of the academic field and providing Nordic added value. PlantLink has together with our founders LU and SLU Alnarp supported two projects in collaboration with other Nordic university partners within the areas of plant climate and phenomics research and plant and health interactions involving metals. We expect the decisions on these two applications in November/December. Fingers crossed!

**Dennis Eriksson represents the SLUGS cluster at EPSO general meeting**

At this year’s EPSO general meeting in Helsinki, 13-14 June, Dennis Eriksson will represent PlantLink and the SLUGS (SLU, LU, Uppsala, Gothenburg and Stockholm) cluster. Questions to be raised during this meeting can be directed to Erik Alexandersson or directly to him.

**Few seats left for PhD course: Successful Partnerships between Academia and Industry in Plant Protection 13–17 November**

Secure the last couple of seats for the Academia-Industry Plant Protection Partnership PhD course 13-17th November. First come first served, please email Laura Grenville-Briggs (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) if you wish to participate! More information here

** PhD course: ''Aspects of quality: raw material, processing and final product'' 6th-17th November**

Plant production has in recent times changed from local to global production chains. The organization of production chains demands knowledge of raw material, processing, and product quality determination to maintain high quality products. This course will give a detailed understanding of important aspects of plant product quality from agricultural and horticultural sectors both for food and non-food purposes. Some examples of the raw material, i.e. plant proteins from side streams and apple fruit, will be processed into various end-use products. Analytical methods used to assess the product quality will be described. Also, the quality aspects involving internal and external factors of the end product assessments will be in focus. For more information here or contact Faiza Rasheed, SLU.

**Two spaces in PhD course “Field-omics and remote sensing”, 18-22 June 2017 at SLU Alnarp**

Due to late withdrawals we have two spaces available at this course. More information here.

**Stacking Biodiversity Benefits for Sustainable IPM, 1-6 Oct. 2017 in Copenhagen, Denmark**
